I have eventually started the Marco Simoncelli portrait today. I was meaning to start it 2 days ago but unfortunately I had to delay the start as my fiance 'Lorna' twisted her ankle while we were out walking our dogs on sunday morning :-( I had to carry her home like a wounded soldier and have until today been more of the 'chief cook and bottle washer' as she has been in quite some pain and so has had to rest with no pressure on her foot.

Anyway I managed to get started today as Lorna's ankle is feeling much better now.
I am using a schoelershammer 4g A0 board for this project as I want to combine 3 different pics of Marco into the one portrait. I started drawing and had two of the pics pencil drawn out before I realised that I wanted to draw onto application tape on top of the board and so had to rub the original drawings out and apply the tape and start all over again :-(
I stopped after the first drawing as my right hand (my dystrophy one) started to ache a bit, I reckon from all the rubbing out the first attempt at drawings.
I shall give it a rest for the remainder of the day and finish of the other 2 drawings tomorrow and maybe even start to apply some colour :-)

Well after a few hectic weeks since the Dutch TT at Assen where I showed my first portrait of Gino Rea to Gino and his team. The responses I got that weekend were fantastic and if you have already read through this website can imagine how much hours or research and work has gone into getting Motogp Art up and running.
The next portrait I am going to do is of the late great Marco Simoncelli . I dont know why but after meetiing Fausto Gresini when he came to shake my hand after seeing the portrait of his moto 2 rider Gino Rea, I felt that Marco's portrait would be a fitting tribute to do next.

This picture shows Gino and his Dad showing Gresini boss Fausto Gresini the airbrushed portraits that I did of Gino in the Gresini hospitality on practice day Dutch TT.
Now that the site is up and runnning, permission to use proffessional MotoGP photographer Scott Jones photo's as references for my portraits, all thats left is to get on with the painting.
Watch this space folks for progress :-)
