Well here I am again, back on terra firma after nearly 4 weeks sailing across the Atlantic ocean from The U.S to Palma Majorca in the mediteranean. It was quite an adventure with loads of heartstopping moments to wonderous memories. I'm very thankful to be back painting especially since at one point of the journey we had 'Hurricane Gordon' behind us. Luckily we made the Azores Islands for shelter and waited till it passed. i saw loads of dolphins, breaching whales, swordfish, tuna and the odd turtle.
| After breaking my toe on the last day of the journey I rested for a week before starting again on the Marco Simoncelli portrait. I picked up from where I last finished and started adding the darker black shades to the wheels, tyres and frame, using a scalpel and erasers to aquire the desired textures and effects. This is the most stressing on my hand and managed only a couple of hours before I started noticing the pain. After a days rest I was back on it, and started cutting out some of the logos on the suit and fairing, again all by hand with scalpel blade so far. Then it was time to start adding a bit of colour of which you can see by the photos was red. This really makes the painting start to stand out and take shape and together with the rest of the masking from the bike fairing is peeled away the mind is already filling in bits that haven't yet been painted. The next few logos for the fairing I will be cutting on the plotter to give that sharp clean lines, Castrol and Honda on the bottom half. By the time I'm ready to start the next blog the fairing should be finished and the highlights and shadow areas applied. So until then 'Ciao' |
